01Overview
Eleve Architects Accounting is a Laravel monolith with an Inertia React frontend, built for internal client-profile, project, billing, expense and administrator workflows.
02Challenge
The firm needed a secure internal application that could handle finance-facing CRUD modules, authenticated admin workflows, public invoice payment steps and file-backed operations — without splitting the system into disconnected services.
03My role
I designed and built the whole product: authenticated workflows, role-aware CRUD modules, billing and expense operations, and the storage behind uploads, logos and payment proofs.
04Architecture
L1
Inertia + React 19 app shell
L2
Laravel 13 monolith — routes, validation, policies
L3
MySQL · in-memory SQLite for tests
L4
Mail · PDF · R2-ready file storage
05Key challenges
- 01Centralising authorisation so sidebar visibility and actual route access stay consistent for every role.
- 02Handling public invoice payment proofs and internal finance review without exposing the rest of the application.
- 03Supporting local public storage and Cloudflare R2-ready deployment paths for logos and finance files.
- 04Keeping a growing Laravel and React codebase stable with feature tests across auth, roles, projects, expenses, billing and settings.
06Decisions
- 01A Laravel monolith with Inertia instead of separate API and frontend applications.
- 02No self-service registration — /login is the entry point for a controlled internal tool.
- 03Sidebar rendering and route access driven from one Laravel navigation registry, so authorisation lives in one place.
- 04MySQL for development, in-memory SQLite to keep the test suite fast.
07Result
A working internal ledger that combines authentication — including two-factor and passkeys — authorisation, finance workflows, file handling and test coverage in one coherent Laravel application.
